A body matter
Clay is a medium that allows exploration and direct expression. It is internationally recognized as a means of creative expression and has potential for therapeutic applications. I take as a reference and starting point the way traditional ceramicists in Korinthos, Greece, were producing roof tiles, shaping them on their thighs. During this process, clay is embodied. While shaping clay, it takes my body temperature, and I get the minerals it contains. As it is a body too, hydrating it is essential. By kneading it, the trapped air, that could cause cracks in the material during drying is removed. Applying this earthly material on my body, it becomes a second skin, an intermediate material, a means of communication and perception of the environment.
