Born in 1998 in Greece, Ioanna Kasalia began studying painting and multimedia in 2018 at Athens School of Fine Arts.

They developed their work by exploring the several ways a body is defined, through diverse means and mediums. Crafts, text and rituals, are connected to create installations, performances and photographic series.

They are dealing with their roots, culture and customs while celebrating feelings, needs and rights that have been suppressed by the contemporary, capitalistic way of living. They usually choose natural materials to work with, trying to benefit from their qualities. For example, clay is an earthly substance, used for protection, ceiling and healing. Lemons from their parents' lemon tree, herbs and flowers from their garden, a lighted candle and sewing threads can arouse the senses and tell stories.
